With the State Government signing an agreement on Saturday with the Kerala Private Medical College Management Association (KPMCMA) on sharing MBBS seats in 11 private medical colleges under the Association in government and management quotas, students and parents are anxious to know when the CEE's allotment to these medical colleges will take place.

According to available indications, the allotment proceedings may be launched in the second week of September. The CEE has time till September 30 to conclude the admission proceedings, as per a previous Supreme Court direction. The CEE is now waiting for the Government Order (GO) validating the agreement between the Government and KPMCMA to reach his office, so that the discussion among officials for the fourth allotment can be launched.

The third medical allotment is scheduled for Aug 30 and the date of joining for students in colleges fall on September 1 and 2. Colleges have to submit the non-joining report on September 6 and the KPMCMA office-bearers expect the CEE to launch the fourth allotment proceedings after that, probably on September 7. However, when contacted by CEE B S Mavoji said he cannot give an assurance on launching the proceedings on September 7. He said that he will decide the dates for fourth allotment proceedings after discussing with other senior officials in his office.

Meanwhile the 11 private medical colleges are expected to complete the management quota MBBS admissions in their medical colleges by Aug 31, as asked by the Supreme Court and start classes for these students on September 1. These colleges, as a token measure, had started classes on August 1 itself after making admission to the NRI seats, to comply with the Supreme Court deadline in this regard. However full-fledged classes are expected to be started after the admission of the government quota students by September 30.
