Recognising the unique legal and inter-disciplinary education, the University Grants Commission has allocated a grant of Rs 9.67 crore to Gujarat National Law University, under the 11th Plan. UGC grant includes, among others, Rs 5 crore for general development of GNLU, Rs 4.60 crore for various education, research, extension and training schemes and Rs 5 lakh for quality control and monitoring programmes and activities, GNLU Director Bimal Patel said today.
UGC recommended GNLU to implement all terms and conditions as per the UGC pay scale and the sixth Pay Commission for the academic and administrative staff members. GNLU is the second lowest in the fee structure among all other national law universities. UGC also recognised GNLU research in the areas of reduction of backlog of cases, law, development and politics as well as world trade and competition.
