IMO, posting under a different identity being good or bad depends on the reason. If you are entering some contest where only one entry is permitted, and you create a new name for that purpose, then of course, it is bad.

With that said, I own a forum and I have 2 identies there. One is me, Rizzano, listed as the Founder, and the other is a joke name to provide entertainment. Of course, most people think it is me, but it's left unsaid.

It just depends on the motive behind it, I guess.

Default Having two identity in a forum is permissible

I also feel that having two identities to post a message in a forum is permissible. We can simply start a discussion by one login id and then keep replying with other ones owned by ourselves. It's fun.. Isn't it?

I would have loved to do that but I don't have two ids. Its difficult to manage one, I don't know how would I manage more than one :-) I keep forgetting the passwords for my login id's through out my registrations on the web ..

Now, having a multiple personality helps us too - How..

For married guys, they can act as hen-picked husband at home and act differently outside. Hope many do it already. So... it goes without saying that they have multiple personality.

    Keep Posting :-)

neeraj, i don't agree with ur last post. Two user id's will not be permitted here. And the same person replying in a different way to his post itself. That seems awkward.

Default I m not encouraging the practice of having multiple user ids

Dear Indianbaba, I am not encouraging the practice of having multiple user ids in our forum. Instead, what I am willing to highlight, there is no system in place to stop a user from doing it.

In case he does, obviously, it would be awkward to post and reply by two different ids of the same person - that's why i took it as an example to co-relate it with multi-personality :-)

    Hope I am clear :)

Once we mod's develop suspicion abt two user id's we can easily find it out but there are some pitfalls in that method. Pls don't ask what is the method.
Thanks for replying. Good correlation neeraj.

    Default Identity

I heard that there is a good movie based on multiple personality.

    Identity (2003)

    Directed by
    James Mangold

    Tagline:
    The secret lies within.

    Plot Summary

Strangers from all different walks of life: a limo driver escorting a movie star, parents with a young son, a cop transporting a convict, a prostitute, a young couple, and a motel manager are caught up in a nasty rainstorm. Why they're caught up is that they're stuck a motel in desolate Nevada. But soon they realize they may be at the motel for a reason when one by one, people start getting killed off. As tensions flare and fingers are pointed, they have to get to the bottom of why they're there. While in an undisclosed location, a psychiatrist is trying to prove the innocence of a man accused of murder in an eleventh hour trial. How these two scenarios are related can only be found in Identity.
