Another vote for Avast. I like the fact that you can install it and forget about it. It also updates itself at regular interval, and best of all it's free.
I consider AVG to be very good too.

I am using AVG 7.5 free with free updates no crack etc needed..
Also NOD32. both r good n consumes very less memory compared to Norton etc.

avast is still the best anti virus for me. its not free though but it will handle the work with ease.

Mcafee. I have used this antivirus for years now. Yes, I have tried others, but I think that Mcafee really gets the job done, and its user friendly. The main disadvantage im having with it though is that I just installed the new Mcafee (06 or 07, i forget. the one with the grey and red logo  ) and it does not have an option to shut it down. It is really not a problem, as my computer does not lag with it on all the time, unless it is scanning, and even sometimes updating. In the older versions of McAfee, you were able to just right click on the icon in the system tray and disable it. There might be a setting within McAfee to disable it, but I have not found any so far.
My dad uses NOD32, and he claims it is alot better then McAfee. I dont know, they both get the job done for me! lol.
take care

another vote for avast
it's has free and not free version, im using the free one it's doing its job quite well.
BTW whatever AV u use the performance of it will highly depend on the user
For guys who dont use AV at all I partly agree with u guys, but there're still times that malwares(as been detected by my avast) comes straight to PC without prompting to download or anything just as soon as u enter the site. i dont know if it's a script or not but if it is it shouldn't work on firefox, right ? Also im using a share PC so it's much better to have one.

Is the best: NOD32+NoAdware4!
