For begginners Swishmax is a great one. :D
The files created using it cannot be distinguished from Macromedia Flash
Its similar to flash Mx....has many features and very very easy to use

you can check it out at http://swishzone.com

It also has scripting which is very powerful
If you want mainly to create text animations then swishmax is the best.
coz it has tons of preset effects which only need to be assigned to the text objects.
If you want more control over flash then you can change overy to macromedia flash mx
