Thread: SPYWARE!!!!

    Default SPYWARE!!!!

Have you ever wondered why your computer was never running as smoothly as it did when you first bought it? Of course over time computer performance does degenerate but there are ways to fix it.

Spyware are little porgrams that run in the background that not only take up your memory and ram but send your private information to their web sites which in turn use your information to spam you. They also can change your home page and place adds everywere. They also include all those annoying search bars you get in internet explorer that you cannot get rid of.

There are many programs which can be used to delete spyware. A few recommendations are:

    Ad - Aware
    http://www.download.com/Ad-aware-SE-...ml?tag=lst-0-1

    spy bot search and destroy
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/ this also has a bho that helps detect spyware. BHO exmplained later

Bazooka note for proffesionals only, require manual deletion of spyware detects spyware in seconds, might not seem reliable but works very well for me
    http://www.download.com/Bazooka-Adwa...ml?tag=lst-0-1

Hijack this This porgram lists everyway ne thing could alter you system but be VERY careful as some things it finds are good. For pro users only.

cwshredder Cool web search is probably the worst of all spyware. This program deletes most traces of CWS but the porgrammer gave up trying to update cwshredder because CWS was too complex and he didnt have enough time.

These programs are all free and ensure that no spyware will ever again harm ur pc. Also use a good virus scanner and defrag as often as possible.

BHO (browser helper objects) are things your browser loads up each time it starts like for example my internet explorer loads an abode acrobat reader BHO to help me view acrobat files online. However spyware sometimes load their BHO into your browser which send info about ur browsing habits to theirs servers.

BHOdemon helps you view all your BHO's

Originally i to used to have spy sweeper however for some reason or another i was not pleased with it. Spy bot is a very good program but i can almost guarantee you there is still spyware on your pc even after you've searched with spybot or spy sweeper. Cool web search for one will just not go away, if you download hijack this or at least bazooka you will see that there are pieces of spy ware spysweeper or spy bot did not pick up. Personally i run all the programs mentioned above to make sure there is no spy ware on my pc. It may seem extreme but there are some things some programs pick up that others do not.

    I have found much confusion.

I have used Spybot, and as well I have used Ad-Aware. Odd thing is this. After using Ad-Aware, it claimed my computer was spyware free....nothing detected on a full (sortware updated,) inspection. Then, using Spy-Bot....it promptly discovered about 3 more spy programs, (2 being keyloggers, and one being an html redirector.) I found Sby-Bot to be the most effective, and now that it uses a regestry monitor called Tea-Timer, it is even more inhanced. Too bad there isn't more decent software such as this in the world for free.

    Nice article.

There are lot of spyware, keyloggers waiting for you to download. So be carefull about these programs.

Many keyloggers and similar programs can be disabled through registry key

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

Programs listed here will auto execute on boot. You can just delete any program listed here, but make a note of it, so if needed you can add it back.

Last day, one of my friend used my pc, i just checked the registry and found

    DM_Server

    C:\PROGRA~1\COMETS~1\DM\bin\dmserver.exe /onreboot

    on registry key

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

This is some AdWare, some program installed from web pages, that (i think) shows some advt.

I just deleted the entry from registry (can also delete the file from computer)

    On Google search found

I would also suggest using WinPatrol and SpywareBlaster. These both work, though I perfer using Ad-Aware and SpyBot. Also I HIGHLY suggest using, or even purchasing WindowWasher. This program works great cleaning unwanted/unneeded files off of your computer. It doesn't clear Ad-ware, but it does about everything else.
