This was really unwarranted. In fact it is nothing less than painful to see that a bunch of small films decided to take on each other at the box office a week ago and none of them ended up seeing any semblance of collections whatsoever. With a mere 1-2 shows coming their way in select multiplexes, films like 'Love Recipe', 'Rakhtbeej', 'Yeh Khula Aasmaan', 'Love, Wrinkle-free' and 'MLA - An Inside Intruder' were discontinued from theatres when 'Rowdy Rathore' came calling. The fact that none of these could bring any audience into theatres with shows being cancelled only added to the woes.

In fact there was such all-around pessimism on part of the theatre chains that even 'Arjun - The Warrior Prince' wasn't favoured. The film didn't quite get much breathing space for itself and though it had tried to make its presence felt over the opening weekend, uninspiring weekdays resulted in even that little interest being lost. Everyone concerned, including UTV (producers of 'Arjun' as well as 'Rowdy Rathore') were well aware that audience was just waiting for the Akshay Kumar starrer and hence no tears were shed when the animation film was discontinued from majority of screens.

Will Bollywood learn from such mayhem? Well, it would be futile to think like that because producers have their own woes to suffer from. No one wants to arrive in a crowd, jostle for screen space, compromise with publicity and end up being losers at the box office. While in most of the instances even the producers are well aware about the content in the offering and hence just release their film as that's the logical culmination to a project, there are some stray instances when lack of anything saleable results in them taking a chance based on whatever little opportunity and a window they get.

That has been the trend and would continue so!
