    Google's upcoming algorithm update will change things so much they have dubbed it "BigDaddy." The update is slated for mid-February or early March and will fix many of the current issues with Google's search results.

    Try these IPs to test out the new system pre-release: 66.249.93.104 and 64.233.179.104 - is your site still in the top results.

    One of the most popular forms of exercise among many search engine optimizers—both the third-party firms that do it for others and the advertisers who spiff up their own Web pages for better natural search rankings—is a periodic workout called “chasing the algorithm”. The race begins when Google or Yahoo! updates some portion of the software that determines how they look at Web pages and decide which are most relevant and valuable to a searcher. The engine makes that change; Web operators see their rankings rise or fall as a result; and they, or their outside search engine optimization (SEO) firm, scramble to get back the old rank by providing the new elements the search engine now needs. After a few months, the engines make another change, and it’s off to the races again.

    The new BigDaddy data center contains new code for examining and sorting the Web, and once it has been tested fully, will become the default source for Web results, according to Yahoo!’s chief search engineer Matt Cutts. In a January 6 post on his blog, Cutts said that might happen in early February or March of this year.

    But what is BigDaddy intended to do? According to Rob Sullivan, head organic search strategist at search marketing firm Enquiro, “If an algorithm update is like putting new tires on a car or installing a new stereo system, this BigDaddy is like putting in a whole new motor. They’re totally revamping how Google works and resolving some long-standing issues with getting sites indexed properly.”

    Default 101 useful Run Commands

    Guys do you use the Run feature in Windows XP? For most, this feature remains unused (or rarely used). Why is that? Well, First off nearly all of the Run Commands Correspond to a particular Control Panel Item or a Utility, Tool or Task that can be accessed through Windows. There are, however, tools and utilities that I bet you never knew you had that can be accessed through the Run feature. The main reason most people don't use the Run feature is because they don't know the Commands. TweakGuides Tweaking Companion [Regular Edition]

    To download the free 175 page PDF Regular Edition of the TweakGuides Tweaking Companion, click here.

    Atleast go thru' it once, pdf size 2mb.

    After many, many hours of revising and rewriting the TweakGuides Tweaking Companion, the new Version 3.0 of the guide is out. It is almost totally rewritten in one way or another. The entire layout has been rearranged to be much more logical and easier to read.

    There are links to dozens of new free applications and sites, tons of new advice scattered throughout the guide, existing advice has been refined or re-written for clarity, and importantly everything is up to date and accurate. It has taken me a lot of research and editing to get the guide to this point, so I urge all of you to upgrade to it as soon as possible and start going through it to see what I mean. There are gems of information all through this guide which you may not have seen before.

    The totally revised TweakGuides Tweaking Companion Version 3.0 is the complete system optimization guide for Windows XP users. It contains an enormous amount of detailed descriptions and resources together in one free 175 page downloadable PDF file. Everything from the correct installation of Windows and critical software and drivers, through to recommendations for every significant setting in XP, all the major performance, visual and convenience tweaks, and descriptions of XP's functionality. The guide contains dozens of links to major free applications for optimizing and maintaining your system, as well as to a vast range of resources for finding out more about your PC and troubleshooting PC problems. Basically the TweakGuides Tweaking Companion is the mother of all Windows XP tweak guides and system optimization guides.

    Important: The guide has now been significantly revised and rewritten, so users of all previous versions of the guide are urged to upgrade to the latest version. Note that this guide was formerly called 'The Windows XP Tweaking Companion' (XPTC), however the name has been changed due to legal action by Microsoft.

    Microsoft has never released a service pack for Windows98 SE. But I made a Service Pack for Windows98 SE users. It contains all Windows98 SE updates from Windows Update site and more.
    It is a self-extracting and self-installing pack like Microsoft's update files. Thus, you cannot choice files individually. However, the pack installs only required fixes for your system. Uninstallation is possible from Add-Remove Programs.

    ****This is only for WINDOWS 98 SECOND EDITION ENGLISH.**** I highly recommend that you should backup your system before installing the pack.
    It contains only operating system updates. It does NOT contain Internet Explorer 6, DirectX 9, Media Player 9 and their updates.

    What's new:
    * Added COMCAT.DLL from DCOM98.
    * Added Q212265 (JPEGIM32.FLT).
    * Added Q240896 (OPENGL32.DLL).
    * Added Q258795 (REG).
    * Added Q269604 (DSOUND.DLL).
    * Added Q285895 (CIMWIN32.DLL) and Q282949 (WBEMPROX.DLL).
    * Added Q314941 (SSDPAPI.DLL, SSDPSVR.EXE, UPNP.DLL).
    * Added Q323708 (NSCIRDA.SYS).
    * Added Q327517 (REG).
    * Added Q885836 (MSWRD632.WPC).
    * Added Q887617 (HTML32.CNV, MSCONV97.DLL, MSWRD832.CNV).
    * Added Q903235 (REG).
    * Added a fix for VS2005 issue (REG).
    * Added "No Channel Logging" registry tweak.
    * Updated Q891711 (to U891711).
    * Updated NWPP32.DLL (to Q250876-v2).
    * Updated HTML Help (to Q896358).
    * Removed DELINFS.INF.
    * Corrected MOUHID.VXD and DISPEX.DLL files.
    * Cleaned up some code.

    Using Fonts in PowerPoint - Microsoft PowerPoint doesn't embed fonts by default, which means that you may have a font on your computer that someone else does not. When they open your presentation it will look very much unlike you had expected it to, because when Windows can not find the font you specified it will substitute another font, with results that are usually not very pretty. I had a total of 24 presentations shown from my laptop, and 4 of them did not format correctly because of fonts that were not found (I have 379 fonts installed on my computer, which is fairly typical of today's Windows PC). In two cases it caused some minor problems reading some tables, another was easily fixed because masters had been used properly, but the fourth was a complete disaster, and the presentation was not usable. It could have been fixed by copying the required font to my computer, or by taking 30 minutes to reformat everything, but you simply don't have the time to make fixes like this when it's your turn to present.

    So, what's to do? Well, there are a couple of ways to try to keep this from happening. The first is to stick to fonts that are common to most Windows computers. Arial, Times New Roman, Tahoma, and Verdana are some examples of fonts that most Windows computers should have loaded. I say should because you can never be 100% sure of what fonts are loaded on the target computer. You can look here to see what fonts Microsoft loads with various programs. Remember, though, that it is relatively easy to uninstall a font, and some people will remove fonts that they don't use. The ones used here are frequently called for, however, so most people should have those loaded.

    The second way is to tell PowerPoint to embed your fonts. This means that the fonts you use will travel with your presentation, and should eliminate the missing font problem. To do this select Tools -> Options from the main menu, then select the Save tab on the form that pops up (this is the way it looks in PowerPoint 2003):
