Rajesh Khanna made his debut with in 1966 with Chetan Ananad's ' Aakhri Khat' after winning the United Producers Fimfare talent hunt contest. followed by 'Raaz' produced by G.P. Sippy (who has promised Rajesh Khanna a break when Rajesh Khanna entered the contest, Big B also send his picture for the contest but was not considered)and Nasir Hussain's Baharon Ke Sapne' he got noticed and was appreciated for his performance but the movies did not go well at the box office and Rajesh jokingly started calling himself as a flop actor.

Rajesh introduction to stardom is courtesy Shammi Kapoor.. many didn,t know that Shakti Samantha who made Rajesh Khanna's first blockbuster 'Aradhana' always preferred his favorite Shammi Kapoor.. but somehow his next with Shammi 'Pagla Kahin Ka' was getting delayed due to date issues.. and Rajesh Khanna was in contract with United Producers who sponsored the Filmfare Talent hunt which he won.

'Aradhana' was a quickie with Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore.. the movie later turned out to be an unforgettable chapter in Bollywood cinema which changed Rajesh Khanna's fortune overnight.. S.D. music is still evergreen with numbers like "Mere Sapnon Ki Rani', 'Roop Tera Mastana'

Veteran industry people recollect that Rajesh Khanna was called Kaka but he lived like a King. In those days two darbars use to be held. One gathering was at Dilip Kumar place which use to start at 11:00 a.m. and end by 1:00 p.m.

Whereas Rajesh Khanna's darbar use to start after 9:00 p.m when he use to return from shoots and it the party use to continue till wee hours.. he was kind to media and use to entertain them but one on one interview was still an achievement for journo even in the golden era age of 70's..

His films' music made him more memorable, the awesome threesome gave Bollywood rare gems like 'Yeh Sham Mastani, Kora Kakaz Tha Ye Man Mera, Kuch to Log Kahenge' , Chingari Koi Badke, Rd Burman's sung 'sweet heart', dariya se nadiyah, O Mere Dil Ke Chain'.. zindagi ka safar,.. the list never ends..

His fans have always been with him.. when he was a superstar he was the talk of the town, and when he is packing his bags for his next romance in heaven he still is the talk of the town.

The zest in the voice still haunts as the time for his darbaar comes near and we hear 'babu moshai, zindagi badi honi chaiye lambi nahin''.
