Taxi fare in Kerala
Taximeter is mandatory for autorickshaws having taxi permit. The Taximeter has to get verified and stamped by Legal Metrology before putting into use. The certificate has to be kept in the vehicle.
The taximeter display the distance traveled, waiting time and the fare to be paid in Rupees. Many drivers are reluctant to use the meter during the trip. So always ask the driver about the destination taxi fare & the distance in advance.
Autorickshaws : Minimum fare : Rs 15 for 1.25 km. Beyond the minimum, the rate will be Rs 8/km.
For the day time travel (5 am to 10 pm), only the meter charges can be levied in Corporation areas of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kochi, Thrissur and Kozhikode and in major towns of Kannur, Palakkad and Kottayam.
Other places in Kerala : When there is no return journey, the auto fare is Taxi meter reading + (Taxi meter reading -15)/2.
Otherwise, the meter reading rate will be levied.
During night (10 pm to 5 am), an additional charge of 50 % of the hire charges will be levied.
Waiting charge Rs 10 for 15 minute or part thereof, Subjected to a maximum of Rs 250 in a day.
Motor Cabs (7 seater)
Minimum fare is Rs. 100 for 5 km. Beyond the rate is Rs 9/km.
Waiting charge Rs 50 for an hour or part thereof, Subjected to a maximum of Rs 500 in a day.
For A/c, 10 % of the hire charges extra.

Auto Taxi fare in Kerala is going to be hiked : Oct 2014
Autorickshaw Minimum fare proposed is Rs 20 for 1.5 km. Beyond the minimum, the rate will be Rs 10/km.
For cars, the minimum proposed is Rs 150 for 5 km. Beyond the minimum, the rate will be Rs 12/km (Rs 15/km for vehicles having more than 1500 cc).
The rate hike will be effective when the rates are Published in the Kerala Gazette.

Revised Autorickshaw fare

Autorickshaws, the minimum fare will be Rs 20 for 1.5 km. Beyond the minimum, the rate will be Rs 10/km. Rs 1 for every 100 m or part thereof.
When there is no return journey, the fare will be
(i) meter charge + (meter charge - 20)/2.
ii) meter charge + 50% of meter charge (travel is from 10 pm to 5 pm).
iii) meter charge (in the Corporation areas of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kochi, Thrissur, Kozhikode and in the major towns of Kannur, Palakkad and Kottayam).
Detention charges : Rs 10 for every 15 min or part thereof. Maximum Rs 250 per day.
Motor Cabs (7 seater), the minimum charge will be Rs 150 for 5 km. Beyond the minimum, the rate will be Rs 12/km. If the capacity is more than 1500 cc, rate will be Rs 15/km.
Detention Charges : Rs 50/hour, subjected to a maximum of Rs 500/day.
