To Disable Automatic Updates Using Group Policy
1.
On a server running Windows 2000, follow the instructions in Help for opening Group Policy in the appropriate way, depending on whether you want to apply the Group Policy object (GPO) to an organizational unit, a domain, or a site.
2.
In Group Policy, click Computer Configuration, click Administrative Templates, click Windows Components, and then click Windows Update.
3.
In the details pane, double-click Configure Automatic Updates, and then click Disabled.
To Disable Automatic Updates Using Control Panel Tools
1.
Click Start, and then point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2.
Click Automatic Updates.
3.
On the Automatic Updates dialog box, clear the Keep my computer up to date check box.
