The film fare awards for Malayalam has just kept in close connection with the tastes of the new generation films and viewers with almost all among them shared between two new generation movies.

Aashiq Abu's movie '22 Female Kottayam' shared the awards for acting honours, including that for Fahad Fazil and Rima Kallingal. LalJose's 'Ayaalum Njaanum Thammil' was named the best movie in Malayalam. Laljose was also named the best director of the year for the movie. Interestingly both these films were hits in 2012,and invited a lot of discussions.
