anyone here interested in emulation?
i am. i'm not as big as i used to be on it. to those of you whom don't know what it is: emulation is the ability to emulate certain other systems on the computer, like being able to play sega genesis games on your comp, or even a ti-89 calculator. it's very complex programming stuff. i'm not a programmer at all, but i know it can be very complex. i do test it for a while.
so who's into this?

I've had my fair share of EMU's in my time.... If you haven't come across the MAME project, give it a look. It's an open source Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator.... http://www.mame.net/

ya ie been looking for some good emulators like a ps2 or xbox but i cant seem to find one.

PS2 and XBox are highly sophisticated systems compared to N64, but there are some emulators out there that barely do anything. A site I like to go to is www.emulation64.com for emulation news. (Don't worry admins, no roms there).

i only prefer gba emulation right now
i don't think console emulation would be the same if played on computer.
the feeling is not exactly the same, even though the resolution is better.
just my thought

N64
I find N64 emulation to be pretty good if you have a good graphics card and good P4 processor.
I play all of these games, and I decided to buy a USB gamepad. It turned out to be cheaper than buying a N64, and the graphics are totally better than the real thing. At the same time I learn something about making ROMS from the real N64 catridges, and some assembly programing in maknig up cheats or new characters for my games. Especially Super Smash Brothers.
I use NEMU, google it. or Project 64.
I've never tried OS emulation, why do would one want to?? Just install the OS....
I've tried WINE (Emulating Windows from Linux) but the speed is choppy and again, why do you want to emulate anoter OS? Just port any programs from C++ source as most programs are portable with little or no code changes

emulation
Apparently Microsoft are thinking about emulation for the xbox2 and there are a few websites claming to be close.
Sony themselves couldent even be arsed to emulate their consoles. The reason for the PS1 (small version) was because they needed to make the chips smaller to fit into the PS2 and I think the new thin PS2 is the same type of thing. Just shows you how difficult it is when the companies themselves dont do it.
Sorry for boring you,
SMM
