3D models for an online store
When online users visit our web site and try to load our 3d models they usually dislike installing the special plug-in required for 3D product view presentation? Please, tell us how we can solve the given problem?

hmmm, totally without a plugin it doesnt work i think. And usually you only need to download such plugin once.
But a lot of people got quicktime installed and with quicktime vr you can create nice 3d models. Requires quicktime plugin though.
its mostly used for 360° panoramas , but im sure it could be used for 3d models as well.
Here an example:
http://www.ix3.com/iiinewsite/a3d-2a.htm
yep here a 3d model with quicktime vr:
http://www.valador.com/gallery_e4.php (needs some time to load)
Another way would be just creating an animation of the 3d content. Gif-animations dont need a plugin , but are very bad in terms of quality. Best would be then using flash or adobe shockwave player, which again needs a plugin.
here an example of a 3d model made with Flash:
http://www.melkus-motorsport.de/moto...006_rs1000.php
maybe with the right script you can stop the animation and by using the mouse button rotating or scrolling it around.
Another thing might be what the teaspotters webpage did. you can register for free, its like youtube for 3d models. But unfortunately it requires a plugin as well.
http://www.teapotters.com/3d_models_home.php
it uses a plugin called 3d life player:
http://player.virtools.com/downloads/player/install.asp
Another way might be simply using Java plugin. Here an example of an organ in 3d, you need to tick the boxes to view the organs:
http://www.applesnail.net/content/3d..._int/index.htm
im not good with scripting, but maybe something like that might be possible with simple HTML, or DHTML. You clients just tick a box and a 3d animation begins to play, just like that organ model.
Yet another plugin is the VRML client by parallelgraphics.com
http://www.parallelgraphics.com/prod...load/netscape/
maybe if you show your client a link to the plugin page , they feel more confident about downloading such a plugin?
well here an example of that plugin:
http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~ywzhang/3dus/3dmodels.html
most of those pages actually got a little icon linking to the plugin page. Parallelgraphics got some graphical icons on their page, which can be used to link to them
hmm thats all i know about 3d models on the web. hope that was helpful

just checked your webpage. I quite like it, and nice 3d models :D
But yet again , maybe customers are more confident to download the plugin directly from the viewpoint webpage. Like instead of allowing them to download that .exe installer from touchbubble webpage, maybe opening a popup , that says that the plugin can be downloaded at www.viewpoint.com . or something.
may I ask what program you use for the 3d models? They look very accurate and got some nice textures 8)
