    Default Pending Member Process

    Website: vilyacreeps. s4. bizhat. com

I like the simplified layout, only there don't seem to be a basic FAQ for all areas. I see the same questions and problems over and over again. I would think you need to re-organize the Forum Support Section to eliminate repetitive questions.

Having said that, I can't find where I go for the most simple step by step precedures of setting up a web page and then how to attach a forum to it.

    Here are my questions:

    1. How do I change a new member's permission from a 'Pending' status to active forum use?

    2. Your link to look at demo templates is broken. Is there another such section to view them?

    3. I have forums all set up, but I want to set up a front page to the website. Is there a section that gives me step by step procedure to do this, or is it also another trial and error type thing?

Thank you for any help possible. One must start somewhere to learn all this without having to go to college for it first....right? Lol...

Okay...I finally unraveled the mystery of this support forum. They had a moderator that had over 2000 posts that answered a lot of the repetitive questions on here, but he quit in May. So if you need help you are suppose to send a tell to Nokia, who is the site admin for these forums.

Even so....I went back....waaaaaay back and looked at hundreds of threads and posts. Some have never been answered..!! Lol..... They have a legitimate reason I suppose, because these forum setups are free. Even if there were several moderators it would still take them forever to answer all the questions.

Here is the thing though...wouldn't it have been so simple to sticky a step by step instructions for on how to do 90% of the issues here? Here are some of the things I found out, but I had to read tons of meaningless posts to find the information.

    1. Some styles don't allow banners, so you have to try different ones.

    2. They had a link but now its broke where you can look at existing styles, so the only way is to add each style and load it to see what it looks like. I think there is approx. 50 of them, but the names are not descriptive enough.

    3. In the support forum you can't show a link to your site to get help, until you have made 5 posts and also have waited 5 days. Yet they say don't make a post without a link to your site if you need help.....sheesh.

    4. I saw 20 threads on spamming alone, with no answers, and yet I saw 20 more that were answered long ago earlier this year when they did have moderators that were more active. So go back...waaaaaaay back to like January or February for threads on your same issues.

    5. There is a FAQ, but it cracked me up because it answered like eight questions, when there are hundreds...lol....that surprised me.

    6. Its free, so be grateful. If you need help you might not get an answer for weeks. If there is a mod she or he is probably suffering from battle fatique in answering the same things over and over again.

    7. Good luck...... :)

I finally figured out question #1. New member had sent application to the other admin's email and he never seen it till I had PM'd him. He approved it immediately and now that member can post. It also moved his name from 'Pending' to the approved Group.

A very simple notation in the Group Admin Permissions Control could have prevented this and probably have eliminated a huge number of the threads in this support forum. Such as:

Note: To move a new member from 'Pending' to a Group you must approve their email application.

The person that wrote the directions in the Admin Panel could have eliminated half the posts and many of the threads in this support forum if they had just been more detailed. Simple thing...IMHO.
