After Colombus ended his journey at Cape of Goodhopes, another ambitious explorer-Vasco-De-Gama started his journey from Portugal inorder to find the ship route known to them as silk route, and he made it.
as soonas they arrived the ruler of Kozhikode, Zamorin welcomed them and Vasco-De-Gama started negotiations for trade. But the decieveful Potugese started to attack arabian trade ships to end Arabian nation's domination in trade with India espetially kerala. This made Zamorin angry and he declared war over Portugese navy. The Zamorin's navy was lead by clever Kunhali of Marikar clan. He fought with courage and he took the advantage of the land scape to deal with relatively big and strong Portugese ships. Portugese navy faced series defeats as they approached Zamorin and told false stories about Kunhali, that he is fighting for Arabs and if Kunhali won the battle Zamorin will lose his Kingdom. As the result of the conspirasy Portugal and Zamorin agreed for treaty and brave warrior Kunhali was handed over to Portugese navy and subsequently killed.
Now in Kozhikode district Kunhali's house is preserved, and is a hotspot of history students and tourists.
