poen up the file php.ini, and look for the line that says magic_quotes_gpc, it will say =Off, change it to =On.

remember, you cannot edit files directly on the FTP folder, you'll have to open the file on your computer, in notepad, switch the desired variable to "on" as MadMAniak said, and then reupload it. it should work then
