Paper On The Walls
Have you ever thought of doing up the walls in paper – wallpaper that is. Interior designers currently are routing all for paper for the walls as they offer you greater variety for interiors. It gives you opportunity to play with a wide palette of colours, and patterns. Most important it’s easy to install, compared to getting a house painted. A room can be fitted in a day. Painting can be a messy job and you have to live with the smell for days. Papered walls are easier to clean – a sponge and some soap water is enough..
Most of the time we back out from using wallpapers for the fear of peeling due to our hot, humid weather. But that need not bother you any longer. Now the market is flooded with brands from UK, Germany, Belgium, France, and Italy that have developed products to meet the humid conditions in our homes. The glues are stronger and don’t peel off so easily. They have special weather resistant properties.
Tips to put paper
* Choose bright bold patters, stripes and colours for rooms that need to be lively, such as the living room. Checks, paisleys are great options too.
* Choose pale, pastels and floral prints for bedrooms.
* Wallpapers finishes does not just mean plain paper, you can also choose from leather, cork, metallic, as well as fabric finishes.
* For stylised finished mix and match patterns and textures throughout the house. You can even do it for a single room.
* Avoid paper in kitchens and bathrooms.
* Mix and match solid and prints in a room.
* Try papering one wall and colouring another for an eclectic twist.
* You can also paper top half and paint the bottom half of the wall for a subtler approach.
