Changing the avatar size

Can I change my avatar size from 6144 bytes to 24000 bytes? When I try to change it under my configuration settings it resets back to 6144.

u need to set CHMOD 666 on all files and CHMOD 777 on all folders

Here's where I show my true ignorance, but, how do I do that?

connect your website using FTP software... then all folder set CHMOD to 777 and all files set CHMOD to 666

It will work... but if you use remote hosted forum... I don't have the answer

I tried connecting to the FTP site per other instructions on this site and I keep getting a message stating that I'm not a valid user / invalid password.

Don't use File Manager... use FTP programs such as CuteFTP, FileZilla or WS_FTP
