I've been looking for a free and reliable HTML editor and I can't seem to find a suitable one for me. Which one do you recommend?

I think CoffeeCup Free HTML Editor is the best. You can find it in www.downloads.com

    but i use CuteFTP
as u can see it's a FTP client, but it has a integrated HTML editor which works pretty good
don't remember all the feature but i love the color code feature
try it out if u want to, i will rate it a 8 out of 10

I have always found Notepad the best and most reliable editor of all.
But I must admit I have used Alleycode Editor too.
And DreamWeaver, but that generates such ... ugly and obsolete code I've stopped using that.

    Stick to Notepad 8)

Dreamweaver is a good source of making HTML and it can be alittle complicated sometimes (I admit) but its a good source.

I use Frontpage and I used Dreamweaver before and now I use FrontPage. FrontPage is about the samething.

You can also use Notepad to make HTML and Websites. But you need to know HTML really good.
If you want HTML help www.Funk-Chickens.com Great website.
