As Raghava Maraar, the cop with a heart and the best brains, Mohanlal was a scene-stealer in Unnaipol Oruvan. This remake of the Hindi hit A Wednesday pitted the megastar opposite World Star Kamal Haasan. Their duel was the high point of the movie.

About this, his third Tamil movie after Iruvar and Popcorn, Mohanlal said when the offer came from Kamal, he literally jumped at it. “I had been fascinated seeing the work of Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher in the original. It was great to work with Kamal, who is a master in gauging the pulse of the audience,” says Mohanlal with appreciation.

"After three decades in the industry, you no longer feel nervous doing parallel roles with great names. Once the camera rolls, you start even with the one in front of you. As an artiste, I have had my good and bad days before the camera. But you keep learning all the time,” says Mohanlal, known for his modest ways.

Mohanlal did throw a surprise when he decided to stage a play (playwright Kavalam Narayana Pannikar's Sanskrit Karnabharam and then the Malayalam Chayamukhi). Learning Sanskrit dialogues in only eight days is something he is naturally proud of.
