Lotion Recipes

Lotion recipes are quite easy to mix up quickly, and they allow you to create a great dry skin remedy inexpensively and naturally. Homemade lotions allow you to be able to control the ingredients such as scents to create a unique product that is tailored to suit your needs and wishes.
Creams and lotions are made by combining oil-based with water-based ingredients to moisturize the skin. This combination provides creams and lotions with the unique ability to be able to moisturize and nourish the skin at the same time. Try this natural lotion recipe to help relieve dry skin:
Lotion for Dry Skin
Ingredients You Will Need:
1/4 cup distilled water
1/8 teaspoon borax
1/2 cup coconut oil
1 tablespoon shaved beeswax
1 teaspoon essential oil of your choice
1/8 teaspoon lecithin
1/2 cup aloe vera gel
Mix together water and borax and heat until almost boiling. In a separate cook pot, mix oil and beeswax heating slowly on low heat until wax is melted. Slowly add the borax and water mixture to the melted oil and beeswax, stirring briskly with a wire whisk. While whisking, add the essential oil, a few drops at a time, until the desired scent is achieved. Let mixture cool down to room temperature. Once the lotion is room temperature, add the aloe vera and whisk to blend fully. Pour into a storage container of your choosing.
This body lotion recipe will leave your skin silky smooth and baby soft. An added bonus is being able to enjoy a favorite scent of your choosing. You can omit the oil if you prefer an unscented lotion.
