Mammootty flays media for giving undue importance to criminals

THRISSUR: Malayalam actor Mammootty on Friday said that media gives "undue importance" to accused in terror related cases.
"The recent trend in the media of giving star value to criminals and accused in terror cases is undesirable and disturbing," Mammootty said.
When an accused in the terror-related case is arrested, media gives detailed reports about his whereabouts, which is not necessary, felt the actor.
The actor, who is also Chairman of the Malayalam Communications Limited (Kairali TV), was delivering a lecture organised in memory of photographer Victor George by Thrissur Unit of the Kerala Union of Working Journalists, on his ninth death anniversary.
Malayalam Manorama photographer, Victor George, was killed when he was caught in a landslip while photographing the monsoon rains at Venniyani in Idukki in 2001.
