Rain may play spoilsport as India go for wrap-up

CHENNAI: If the mood in the Indian camp is to be believed then the Kiwis must be prepared for 5-0 rout as both meet in the final one-dayer of the series at Chepauk on Friday afternoon.
As Ashwin stated there seems to be no complacency in the Indian team and the hosts are keen to go for a clean sweep.
Their desire stems from the fact that they successfully chased a huge total in Bangalore.
Yusuf Pathan could not have asked for a better time to run into form. His hard-hitting century showed the belief that the Indians had enough ammunition even if the top order failed to click.
The Chepauk wicket covered for most part of the week due to rain is a bit ‘sticky at the moment’ as Ross put it, the wicket should be good for batting by Friday.
K Parthasarathy the curator believes that the wicket would be a run feast and that the teams can post a total of 300 runs.
The Indian’s will once again back on Gambhir, Kohli, Yuvraj, Rohit and Yusuf to put some runs on the board and apply pressure on the visitors.
Gambhir and Kohli are in tremendous form, Yuvraj and Rohit can also prove dangerous, but it is Yusuf’s back that the Kiwi’s would like to see at the earliest. Yusuf with his brilliant strikes demoralised the opposition attack. This in fact makes the job easier for the Indian bowlers.
Indian bowling coach Eric Simmons stated that the best players would be fielded.
But sources indicate that there might be a few changes without affecting the balance of the side.
On the other hand it is the last chance for the Kiwis to salvage some pride.
They looked like coming out from a slumber at Bangalore, but found that it was not enough to save the game.
The problem is that they depend upon one or two individuals to perform every time.
If either of them fail then they fall like a pack of cards.
This despite the fact that many of the players in the current Kiwi side have been to the sub-continent in the in the recent past.
The inability of the players to graduate from A teams to International cricket is cause for concern.
Thankfully India is blessed with a good bench strength, although their bowling needs to have more sting, especially in the slog.
Chepauk wicket has helped as the match progressed particularly the spinners to check the run flow.
Therefore spinners Vettori and Nathan McCullum will be the key for the Kiwi’s to go back home with some pride.
