PERTH: Mike Hussey scored his second half century of the test to put Australia in a powerful position on day three of the third test against England, with the hosts 211—4 at lunch Saturday.

Hussey was 60 not out at the interval, having successfully challenged a decision to give him out lbw on the last ball before the break. Australia has an overall lead of 292 runs and is well placed to push for a series—levelling victory.

England took only one wicket in the Saturday’s first session, with opener Shane Watson yet again out in the 90s, trapped lbw by Chris Tremlett for 95, ending a 113—run fourth wicket stand with Hussey. Steve Smith was 16 not out at lunch.

Earlier, Watson who was trapped lbw by fast bowler Chris Tremlett, was not so lucky when he challenged the decision. Watson’s hopes of his first Ashes hundred was cut short by a Tremlett delivery that pinned him in front of the stumps.

Watson hit 11 fours in his four—hour innings and his stand with Hussey further enabled Australia to establish authority over England.

Hussey, Australia’s most prolific batsman in the current series has scored a half century in each of his visit to the crease.

He started the series in Brisbane with 195, and scored 93 and 52 in second test loss in Adelaide, and 61 here in the first innings.

Smith also benefited from the review system when he challenged umpire Billy Doctrove’s decision to give him out lbw when only one.

Tremlett and Steve Finn have two wickets each.
