After 3 decades, Rajni to appear in a Kannada film

Superstar Rajnikanth, though he has many friends in Bangalore and Karnataka in particular, he has only acted in a handful of Kannada movies. After almost thirty years, Rajni has consented to star in a Kannada film. In fact, his role is a ‘guest appearance’ and he would appear on-screen for not more than 5-6 minutes. In the fag end of the seventies, in 1980 to be precise, Rajni starred in a Kannada film titled ‘Garjana’ (later dubbed into Tamil as ‘Garjanai’ and ran for 100 days).
Three decades have passed by since then and Rajni has been ruling Kollywood as the undisputed ‘No.1’ and the ever-green superstar of Tamil films. He has now agreed to star in the Kannada film ‘Jogaiah’ staring Shivraj Kumar, elder son of the late Kannada movie legend and one of Rajni’s closest friends, the inimitable Raajkumar.
‘Jogaiah’ would be Shivraj Kumar’s 100th film as an actor. The film’s muhurat was held some time back in Bangalore, which was attended by the ‘who’s who’ of the entire film fraternity in the country. Shivraj reportedly requested Rajni to appear in at least one sequence to make it a ‘special film’ and to add to the film’s commercial value.
Rajni immediately agreed to perform the ‘guest appearance’ in the film and told Shivraj that he was ready to oblige his request, it is reported. The superstar is likely to give a brief intro about the late Rajkumar and the significance of the 100th film of Shivraj prior to the commencement of the film for about 5-6 minutes.
