New Home Wiring Ideas

Building a new home comes with distinct advantages that are not always present when buying an existing structure. One of these is having the ability to customize the wiring of the home to fit the needs of your lifestyle. This opens the door for some interesting considerations that most people never have the joy of planning.
Security
While it's true that a home security system can be installed in any residence, it is also true that the systems can be better integrated into the home if they are installed at the time of original construction. Wiring for security systems can be more easily routed through the walls without the need for cutting or drilling, and sensors or other equipment can be better blended into construction so that they are not as easily spotted.
Those using next generation wireless alarm systems can also benefit by installing the system at the time of construction. Signal transmitters and other items can actually be installed inside the wall before it is sealed up, allowing you to pass a stronger signal through the construction, without having ugly equipment showing in your home.
Entertainment
Wiring your home entertainment center when the new home is built allows you to have better control over the dynamics of your media output. Surround sound, mid-wall connection ports, overhead projection systems and more can be easily installed at the same time that all other wiring is done in the room. The best part is you can hide all of the wires inside the walls without having to cut open any existing construction. Those who use surround sound will particularly enjoy how easy it is to install the wiring in a new home, as opposed to crawling under an existing home to run wires under the floor.
220-Volt Access
When building a new home, it is important to consider how many 220-volt access points your home will need. Most homes use 110-volt wiring, but larger appliances, such as clothes dryers, will usually require a 220-volt plug. It is often a good idea to have another one available in your garage or work area so that you will be prepared in the event you find yourself working with larger power tools in the future.
