Default Free hosting : what's the score?

    Hi all!

Just signed up for some free hosting so thought I'd post a quick message to see what all your opinions are of the service here. The site I want to host relies more than heavily on PHP ( powered by Etomite Content Management System ), so it's probably a good idea I get posting!! :D

Since I've logged on to the forums the pages seem to load pretty slow, is it just a case of me/today or are they always like this?

... but more importantly, what's the hosting like?? :-)

Free hosting here is the best I have found, and I've looked through 100's. Their free hosted forums are also very good, I've been using one for some time and only had 2 small problems. These were sorted out by support/admins within a few hours of me informing them .
I haven't uploaded my site yet, but from what I've seen I don't expect any problems :D

humm.... only just found the thread warning that php/mysql will no longer be granted to new websites...

For me, this writes off BizHat as a host because my whole site is database-driven.... :(

    Let's go find an admin....

You can check out forums you can get, phpbb, cfebb, invision.
    at hosting.cfe-clan.com
    and bizhat.com

The reason mysql was taken away was because people mainly used it for forums, and bandwidth usage. (email systems).
If you need an email thing, just let me know and I might come out with a version that I made.

Well Bizhat.com is the best out in the internet.
5 GB, 50 Megs, what more do you need for free?

Bizht is the best, and I give bizhat.com 10/10.
But there are some problems, but every internet hoster has a problem here and there.

If you need any help PM me or ask somewhere in freeweb hosting forum.
We will get to you as soon as possible.

Php/mysql is for the content management system I use ( that link again, they deserve it!!! Etomite Content Management System), but problem solved!

The only downside I've found so far is that the server speed seems to slow down a bit from time to time (but that's only in the 12 hours I've been registered here), but most of the time seems pretty fast!!

...oh, and how come the rename command on the ftp server has been disabled..?? (Tried, but really can't think of a reason!!)

... Feels like my long search for a quality free host has come to an end... :D :D

As for the rename command you might want to read the FAQ to just registered members!

    9. Can I change my files/dirs name in FTP?

No, you can't. Download it, rename and upload.
So you must get ready ahead of time. Because we are using unix systems, so to having sensitive size.

    10. Why can't I rename or edit my files on the FTP server?

You can't because all users have a set discreet priviledges, and how the server is set up, users do not have the permissions to do so.

    11. Well how do I fix this?

You can't. In order to rename or edit files on your FTP server is to edit them on you computer, delete the old copies on the server, and reupload them to your site.
As regards PHP...how did you get PHP activated in such little time? Did you ask for the upgrade? I need it on my site but haven't yet asked for the upgrade because I haven't posted in the forum as much as needed for that.

Yep, saw that in the FAQ, still doesn't explain why...

problem : server settings prevent useful features from working
solution : change the server settings
