 Ayush 'rejects'  five colleges in Kerala
		
		
				
					
					
				
				
					
				
		
			
				
					The Department of  Ayush, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has denied  permission to four Ayurveda colleges  and one Sidha college in Kerala to  start graduate courses this academic year. The list published by the  Department reveals that the following colleges have been denied  recognition:  P.N. Panicker  Sauhruda Ayurveda Medical College at Parakalai, Kanhangad, Kasaragod,  Kerala By the P. N. Panicker Sauhruda Trust;  
 Parrasianikkadavu Ayurveda Medical College, PO Parassiaikkadavu, Distt. Kannur – 670 563;
 PNNM Ayurveda Medical College. Shoranur, Kerala by PNNM Bhartheeya Sastra Vidya Peetam, Keraleeya Ayurveda Samajam Hospital;
 Vishnu Ayurved College, PO Government Press, Shoranur – 2, Distt. Palkkad , Kerala and
 Santhigiri Siddha Medical College, PO Koliyacode, Thiruvananthapuram – 695 607
 As on August 24, 2011  the following colleges have been granted recognition. The colleges are  (with the approved intake and course in bracket: 
 Vaidyaratnam P.S.  Varier Ayurveda College, Kottakkal, Distt. Malappuram, (PO) Edarikode –  676 501, Kerala (Permitted for 50 UG seats, and one PG namely Manas  Roga-6 seats);
 Government Ayurved  College, Dhanwantri Nagar, Dist. Ernakulam, Tripunithura Kerala  (Permitted for 50 UG seats and 6 PG courses viz. Shalya (5 seats),  Shalakya (4 seats), Rasa Shastra (4 seats), Dravyaguna (4 seats),  Panchakarma (4 seats) and Swasthavritta – 4 seats); 
 Government Ayurved  College, Kannur, Kerala (Permitted for 40 UG seats and 2 PG course in  Kriya Shareer (5 seats) and Rognidan (5 seats);
 Mannam Ayurved Co-operative Medical College, Pandalam, Kerala (Permitted for 50 UG seats); 
 Amrita Ayurveda College, Kollam, Kerala - admission by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Permitted for 60 UG seats) and 
 Government Ayurved  College, MG Road, Thiruvanathapuram, Kerala (Permitted for 50 UG seats  and 12 PG courses i.e Ayurveda Siddhant – 6 seats, Dravyaguna – 6 seats,  Rasa Shastra – 4 seats, Bhaisajya Kalpana – 4 seats, Swasthvritta – 6  seats, Agadtantra – 5 seats, Prasuti Tantra & Striroga – 6 seats,  Kaumarbhritya – 5 seats, Kayachikitsa – 6 seats, Shalya – 3 seats,  Shalakya – 3 seats and Panchkarma – 5 seats).
 According to Ayurveda  Self-financing College Association president Vijayan Nangelil, the full  list of approved colleges is expected by August 30 and the admission to  the BAMS course is to be over by October 15. The BAMS course will be  included in the next allotment by the CEE, he said.
 He said that his  association will take up the case of the colleges under his association  that have been denied recognition, with the Department of Ayush through  the State Government. "We had signed an agreement with the state  government on August 17 for sharing of BAMS seats 50:50 in the  government and management quotas. If this agreement is to work properly  these colleges have to get recognition," he said. He said this year's  government quota fee has been increased by Rs 5000 to Rs 45,000 while  the management quota fee has been hiked by Rs 25,000 to Rs 1.25 lakh.
