Eva Green May Be in 300 Prequel, Reese Witherspoon Gets Devil's Knot
Finishing up the week we've got some casting updates to catch you up on. First up, The Hollywood Reporter says Eva Green (in theaters next year in Tim Burton's Dark Shadows) is in talks to play Artemisia in the 300 prequel, currently known as 300: Battle of Artemisia. 300's Zack Snyder, who's busy with Man of Steel, won't be directing. Instead, Noam Murro (Smart People) is in charge of bringing Frank Miller's vision to life on the big screen this time. Production is expected to begin sometime next year.
Next, Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon is on board Devil's Knot, the true story of the West Memphis Three - Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley Jr. - who were convicted of murdering three young boys back in 1993. According to Deadline, Witherspoon will be playing the mother of one of the murdered boys who starts out believing the three are guilty but ultimately changes her mind and is convinced they're innocent.
And last but not least, Robert Redford could be signing on to Margin Call director J. C. Chandor's second feature film, All is Lost. Described as a man vs nature tale, Deadline says it will be set on the water - and that's all we know about what will likely be Chandor's next project.
