Casanova – Movie Review Casanova – Movie Review

 Director: Roshan Andrews
 Producer: Confident Group, Aashirwad Cinemas
Cast: Mohanlal, Shriya Saran, Lakshmi Rai, Sanjana

A lot was expected from Mohanlal's Casanova since it was one of the most expensive film made in the Malayalam film industry. However, one can't help but remark that Casanova, directed by Roshan Andrews fails to live up to the high expectations set by the audience.

While the filmmakers have shelled out lots of money on the breathtakingly beautiful locales and choppers, it would have been better if more significance was given to the script of Casanova!

Even the glamorous looking babes in short and skimpy clothes could not save Casanova from the disastrous plot of the film.

Mohanlal is seen romancing and dancing around with young girls and that seems quite strange. One can't help but wonder why the superstar, who is one of the finest actor in the Malayalam film industry can't do a more strong and performance oriented role that suits his age!

 Story

The story of Casanova unfolds in Dubai where Casanova, (Mohanlal) who is an international flower trader comes to charm the girls. The rich and glamorous playboy has everything going right for him. During one of his visits, Casanova happens to meet a group of four (Arjun, Abhishek, Vikram and Shamsi), who are involved in a robbery. The Interpol is trying hard to grab the four. However, our Casanova has a score to settle with the friends.

Using two beautiful girls named Hanna (Lakshmi Rai) and Ann Mary (Roma), Casanova decides to get back at them. Casanova then begins to host a TV show and all his tricks succeed in creating a rift between the four friends.

It is later revealed that Casanova was once in love with a salsa dancer named Sameera (Shriya Saran). She was the only girl he truly loved.

 Performance

Mohanlal is undoubtedly good. However, owing to the weak script, the superstar is unable to show much of his talent. There is absolutely no chemistry between Mohanlal and Shriya Saran. The other actors in Casanova have given an average performance. Script by Bobby and Sanjay is average. Music by Alphonse, Gopi Sundar and Gowri is nice.

Watch Casanova only if you love Mohanlal and for the beautiful locales and visuals by Jim Ganesh.
