my experience is that new drivers aren't always the best.

I've got an Nvidia FX5200. The newest drivers are sometihng like 81.98, but I get the best performance out of the 71.94 drivers.

You might want to try a few different ones to see which works best, if you're into that kind of thing. guru3d.com is a good site for info on video cards and tweaking them.

For my ATI card 4.9 drivers gives best performance
rather than latest drivers
