The Central Board of Irrigation and Power, New Delhi, has invited applications for admission to a 52-week postgraduate diploma course in Thermal Power Plant Engineering. The course aims to develop a pool of trained manpower for operation and maintenance of thermal power stations.

Those with a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and those appearing in the final year BE or B.Tech. examinations may apply. Selection is based on the marks obtained in 10th, 12th and degree examinations, the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering and so on. There are 60 seats, 10 per cent of which are reserved for sponsored candidates from State electricity Boards and power utilities with at least 60 per cent marks in the B.Tech. course and a year’s experience in power utilities. The upper age limit for candidates other than those sponsored is 27 as on July 7. There is no such ceiling for sponsored candidates.

The course fee is Rs. 1.5 lakh for candidates other than those sponsored. The application fee is Rs. 700. Application forms and details may be downloaded from CENTRAL BOARD OF IRRIGATION AND POWER. The filled application forms, along with documents and the application fee, should be sent to the Secretary, Central Board of Irrigation and Power, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi – 110 021 so as to reach there on or before September 1. The results will be declared on September 7 and the course will start on October 1.
